Good TeaDay everyone and welcome to TeaDay. Please stop in throughout the day and share what is in your cup.
Yesterday we discussed books and movies ... off the tea topic. You can still vote and discuss yesterday's topic.
Today's TeaRoom topic and poll. Once again, off the tea topic, perhaps. Yesterday, a good movie, how about dinner? If you are able to choose only one type, what type of restaurant would you choose? I am sure I missed some, so by all means share even if it is not on the list. Please share what your fave choices would be.
I am looking forward to sharing this TeaRoom TeaDay with everyone.

I'll have to agree with Baku on the Thai thing. There's something so right about Thai food.
I'm going to Copenhagen in a couple of weeks, and they actually have a good selection of excellent Thai restaurants there. Cant't wait to gorge myself.
Having some excellent oolong today.

If only I could find a good South Indian restaurant here... it would be idli, vada, dosas and sambar: good for breakfast or lunch.
Re: Sunday TeaRoom 12/06/09 FoodChat?
Probably Mexican since it is such a huge part of Southern California cuisine.
But hopefully we're just talking one night? I'm not willing to give up Korean or Italian or a good ol' American New York steak. Wow, I'm starving now.
I want steak and eggs for breakfast!

I was going to say.... I think a good ol' Steak House is missing from the list! But for me, the toss-up would probably be between Vietnamese and Japanese. But as much as I love sushi (or even a nice juicy steak), I just melt into a bowl of pho. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.
It's pretty chilly here this morning. There was even a chance of some snow last night, but the rain quit before it got cold enough. That's probably a good thing, given the poor capability of the drivers here in good weather.
Still, as brisk as it is in my apartment, it's nice to be back where having a hot cup of tea is a very soothing thing...! This morning, I'm continuing with the 1960s Wang Zi loose leaf sheng that I started yesterday. Great stuff.
And I think I might be buying my first kyusu today..... wish me luck! haha. Have a great TeaDay everybody!

Morning sencha as usual.
Japanese, for sure. Just about all types............not just the typical "sushi". I certainly love vinegared rice...... but Japanese food goes WAY beyond that. (fyi-.....The term sushi referes to the vinegared rice part ....not the raw fish. There is plenty of sushi that has no raw fish involved. And the original "sushi" developed in various parts of Japan does not resemble the stuff that most Americans and Japanese eat today. Tsugaru sushi is like a wet porredge.)
Japanese would be my wife's choice also.... and our kids from a VERY young age would also have chosen that. As grown women now...... that is still their favorite also.
We have always made Japanese and other Asian type foods here at home at least as much or more than any other "type" of food. "Stock up" trips to the local Asian grocery store are an almost weekly affair along with going to the regular American grocery store.
best,
....................john
PS: Had our first significant snowfall of the season yesterday. The night of December 1st was the lighting of the first wood fire in the kitchen wood stove of the winter. So It is now "officially" winter here at my house. More significant snow forecast for the middle of this week. Looks like I am going to be firing my noborigama next week looking at snow all around me. Brrrrrrrrrr.

Cold here this morning! Having an unidentified black tea blended with cinnamon and orange peel put together by Harney & Sons. It's good for snowy mornings.
My favorite food wasn't listed - a fusion of good old fashioned Scottish cooking and good ole' Southern style. However, do enjoy the fusion of Eastern/Western cooking.
Going to try my Mariage Freres Marco Polo today, no matter what kind of tea it turns out to be!!!

Enchiladas are my favorite. Went to LaMagdalena last night. What perfect timing for this question.

I voted 'other'. I could eat Indian food every day for the rest of my life and be a very happy person!
Re: Sunday TeaRoom 12/06/09 FoodChat?
Definitely 'other' as in Greek food or good 'ol American Steak House.
TeaSource Three Brothers in my cup this morning. The peppermint is so soothing to my scratchy throat!

I missed your reply the other day. The Mariage Freres website is very difficult to navigate, but it does seem most things called Marco Polo are blends. Since it is Japanese it may be green tea with flowers and/or fruit.artmom wrote: Going to try my Mariage Freres Marco Polo today, no matter what kind of tea it turns out to be!!!
I'm interested to hear how it is as well as what it is!
Aww hope you feel better! Pancakes for lunch will help!geeber1 wrote: TeaSource Three Brothers in my cup this morning. The peppermint is so soothing to my scratchy throat!

It was at this point perusing the Mariage Freres selections that my eyes began to glaze over-
"Women wearing fine gloves collect the sole pekoe (bud) of the imperial harvest with golden scissors, taking care not to harm the shoots.
At no moment do the hands of the pickers—or of the planter—touch these leaves. The gloves prevent this risk, leaving the tea immaculate."
They must have run out of monkeys:)
