I just got my first Da Hong Pao. Its packaged in satchels from Yunnan Colorful on ebay and it says "Yu Yong Zhi Ziun Da Hong Pao" on the packaging.
The brew smells like mari* * *juana, is that normal?
It does pack a punch, my chi is completely centered

Hahahaha! That's what people tell me when they walk down into my basement. "You been doing a little sum'in sum'in down here?"
There definitely is a hint of the green stuff in Wuyi.

Hey, you are not the only one. I put my nose down into some wet Taiwan Wuyi leaves (or was the very roasted Tiguanyin) and it really smelled like mari* * *juana to me. Then I another time it smelled like cigarette ashes. I guess that's why I don't really like heavily roasted oolongs.

Mod edit. I have broken the name mari* * *juana since this topic turns up in a lot of google search results, and a few top results such as oolong/mari***juana.
We had a topic (intentionally mispelled here) "smoken green tee" which had so many pot heads looking for alternate highs posting on the forum, that the topic finally had to be removed from the general forum ... though we still have it and might "roll it" out for some fun one day. It was the top posted topic on the forum until finally the teaware show off topic beat it.

Yep. The shi lan from Tea Gallery often gives me the same impression when I smell the wet leaves on the second or third infusions. Just put on some heavy reggae and enjoy the vibes.

People send me tea from all over the world and I always wonder if I "get" all of it, because a lot of the time customs (or whoever) opens my tea packages and puts a slip in there saying they've been "inspected" haha. Hilarious
