Thursday TeaDay 2/11/10 Teapot Activity?

by Chip » Feb 11th, '10, 01:41

Welcome everyone to TeaDay. Please drop in and share what is in your cup throughout the day.

Yesterday we discussed how many teaware/accessory items we used in making our daily teas. You can still vote and discuss yesterday's topic.

Today's TeaPoll and discussion topic. A bit of a spin off of yesterday, sort of. How many different brew vessels are you using with some regularity, actively ... typically used at least once per week. This can be a teapot, gaiwan, cup w/ infuser, gadget brewer, etc. Please share some details.

I am looking forward to sharing this TeaDay with everyone. Bottoms up.

Error messages are still popping up everywhere else.

At work--a kamjove infusor is now tentatively replacing the small glass teapot; the gaiwan comes out a couple of times per week. At home, the glass teapot, kyusu, one or two of the tiny yixings, and a gaiwan or two or three (if doing a comparative tasting). So anywhere from 7-10 brewing vessels/week.

Three houhins, a little gaiwan, a porcelain kyuusu, a tokoname kyuusu and two chawans for my most regularly used brewing vessels (i.e. used at least once a week during the last months).
Otsuusan sencha ths morning.

Typically 4 in heavy usage - 2 glass Bodum pots, one for work and one for home & 1 kyusu & 1 yixing.

Started my day with a Japanese Black. Have a nice day everyone!

Work: "Whatever mug is clean" (+ infuser) <- 1
Home: 2 teapots see regular use (stainless steel and a fairly large porcelain English-style pot), as well as my IngenuiTEA, gaiwan probably gets used once a week or so, and an assortment of mugs and cups with which I can use an in-cup infuser - a set of 3 large mugs (used more than anything else, count as 1 since they're identical except color), my treasured Publix mug :) , and a random mug from an Asian market (very awesome). So grand total: 8 (1 work, 7 home  ). Sounds like a lot, but what gets used depends on the kind of tea and how many people will be enjoying it with me.

This morning: darjeeling; on 3rd infusion now. Will probably switch to Caramel Delight with/after lunch.

Morning folks :D

On a normal week I use 3 different brewing devices
  • IngenuiTEA...its just so convenient
  • a gaiwan
  • and paper filter tea bags when I cold brew
in my cup this morning is adagios darjeeling #1, have to say I wasn't that impressed, I still like darjeeling #2 better.

(yea i got an error when trying to submit :( )

Just 1, my little glazed kyusu, since that's all I have at this point. Brewed up Den's "Houjicha Gold" roasted Bancha this morning. First time with this tea. Aroma reminded me a bit of toasted sushi nori. Flavor and aroma both have notes of just-beginning-to-burn popcorn. Nice sweetness. I like this tea, I don't think it has the complexity of the sencha I've been drinking over the past couple of days, but it's pleasant and easy drinking. 3 infusions so far (all very short, 15-30 seconds, with boiling water), going to go try for a 4th now.

An extensive choice of English or French style teapots, cup/mug w/infuser, and my ingenuiTEA, which is sooooo convenient and I can enjoy watching the tea leaves in it.

So, I voted 3.

Nothing yet this morning; but probably a black or an oolong. :)
