In order to improve the quality of water, I have bought a glass kettle, suitable for induction cooker (this one: http://cgi.ebay.com/Glass-Teakettle-for ... 33596cc0e3). I have tried it twice today and came to a conclusion it is completely unusable on my Kamjove S130 1300Watt cooker. The water takes forever to boil (more than 15 minutes), probably due to good heat insulation of glass and only a small piece of external magnetic material lining.
Are there good alternatives for glass kettles that won't take it forever to boil? I think that any kettle made of good heat insulator (glass, clay) will behave similarly and I should better look for an enameled steel one.
Re: Glass induction kettle unusable
Have you tried Le Crueset tea kettles? I'm not too familiar with stovetop kettles, but they are made of enamel. They will run about 60-75 bucks on Amazon.com. Le Crueset Dutch ovens and pans have great heating capabilities.
Looks like on their site they have a new enamel and steel kettle:

If I recall the physics glass doesn't work on induction heaters because you are essentially heating by having the vessal become the secondary of the transformer.

The little boxes say it works in the microwave.
And it should work faster.
Good luck.
Re: Glass induction kettle unusable
Thanks. I hate microwave. I'd better use my gas hob. What pisses me off is that I already had a glass kettle that works on gas hob, but wanted the convenience of electric kettle together with neutral taste of water. Now the kettle is completely useless...nonc_ron wrote: The little boxes say it works in the microwave.

Thanks. Le Creuset are way overpriced in Israel (I think around $120-150). Enamel on steel should be better tasting than bare metal and be as fast as stock Kamjove stainless kettle on induction plate.xine wrote:Have you tried Le Crueset tea kettles? Re: Glass induction kettle unusable
This is a specially made glass kettle with metal layer on the bottom that makes it suitable for induction plate - you can see it on a picture in a message above.beecrofter wrote:If I recall the physics glass doesn't work on induction heaters because you are essentially heating by having the vessal become the secondary of the transformer.
