Saturday TeaDay 6/12/10 Your last new tea?

by Chip » Jun 12th, '10, 02:36

Welcome everyone to a new TeaDay. So go brew and come back and share what is in our cups today, all day long. If you need to you can reflect back on your TeaDay.

Yesterday we discussed TeaBudget crisis scenarios/ You can still vote and discuss yesterday's topic.

What's new? That is the subject of today's TeaPoll and discussion topic. Share with us when was the last time you had a new tea for the very first time. Of course, also share what it was as well. Your impression of it.

I am looking forward to sharing TeaDay with all of you. So, bottoms up, refill, repeat as many times as you can.

I try a new tea every day... but there's only a finite number of teas so eventually I'll run out. When that day comes, it'll be December 21, 2012 which happens to coincide with the end of the Mayan calendar....hmmmm

The last new tea I tried was Keemun black tea, about three weeks ago. I'm looking forward to getting a couple of new teas next time I go tea shopping (probably at the end of August).

Currently drinking the aforementioned Keemun.

(Is it terrible that I looked at that picture and my eyes went straight to the eggs? Clearly I shouldn't browse TC while half-starved.)

I tried a new tea last night, actually! I got in quite a few tea samples this week so I held a little sampling with a few friends. It was the first time I had tried any sort of Lapsang Souchong.. quite an interesting flavor. Not sure if it's my thing though. I love the smell but I'm not entirely sure I enjoy drinking it. I'll have to try it again.

I said: "yesterday". It was Spring Darjeeling from Adagio. Lovely, lovely bright flavor. I liked it more than I thought I would.

Two days ago, sort of. This year's Yutaka Midori Classic from the O-C. And the Adagio Shincha ... their first shincha ever.

Began the TD with an organic shincha. SweeTea joined in and Fuji and Shincha hung out.

It's been shincha first tea every morning for a few weeks, a lot of it was new for me!

Nice photo Brandon ... makes me hungry! 8)

As a recent re-inductee to Adagio teas, I've been trying something new for the last 3 days!. Except for the Strawberry flavored black tea; I ordered that the last time I purchased 5 years ago.

So far, I'm enjoying the ride; right now in my cup is some of a Chocolate Chai sampler bag. :)

A few weeks ago - when I got my last Adagio order, I tried 2 new (to me) teas, their Fujian Baroque and Oolong #8, both of which are great, and the oolong could make a really nice cheap everyday tea. In fact, I made some up this morning to bring with me to the salon!

One week ago today, so had to vote 'less than a month'.
At the tea shop last weekend I tried two new teas. One a chinese green that I wasn't that impressed with, the other an Oolong that I will not soon forget. The Oolong was called Eight Immortals and it was AMAZING. At the 10th infusion it was still going strong, and I had to leave to go home! Absolutely stunning. Sadly not for sale - it was the owners private stash and recent acquisition on trip to China (or Taiwan?).

No tea yet, matcha soon, then probably a chinese green. Then off to see the kinesiologist.

Brandon - absolutely wonderful photo! I love it! Just love your setup, arrangement, teaware, the whole thing!!! Wowza! :D

You can get some 'Eight Immortals' aka Ba Xian Dan Cong Phoenix oolong from Imen at Tea Habitat. But the web site is currently not functional per her blog, so read that post about how to order.

Had a new one today for my morning tea - golden spring from Adagio. I purchased some samplers of their blacks to help me choose what will become my everyday black. Yesterday I tried the yunnan gold and golden monkey. More tasting will be necessary before I am sure!

Ice brewed sencha in my cup right now.

Posted this on Tuesday of this week; "This afternoon, sampled Organic White Tea Rose Melange from Rishi. A mixture of roses, white tea, green tea , peppermint, lavender, and jasmine.

I liked the whole experience. Enjoyed the smooth feeling the roses give to my tongue and lips; and particularly enjoyed the lingering mint aftertaste. :D

Hope you have a great weekend.
