i bought a 30 old pu erh and it only taste like earth, i know its´prob normal but the flavour didnt change in the mouth.. it tasted like young cheap shu pu erh just stayed longer the taste and was aclittle weaker...

Hard to tell without photo of the cake, the look at the leaves, the colour of the tea, and of course the taste...

I had an early 80s ripe probably around 25 to 30 years old range and it tasted like cockroach earthy smell which the shop claims it tasted like herb. Herb ain't taste like that yo~~~

could be:
> a tea that is not what was claimed,
> or a poorly stored one
> or maybe one that did not have the potential for being kept that long.
Not all pu er is aged successfully. We tend to think that pu er is by definition a tea to be aged, but I would be curious to know what percentage actually lived through decades.
