Do you touch your yixing? And how much?

by jjanek » Dec 5th, '10, 14:02

Do you touch, fondle and rub your yixing pot with fingers and palms? I do it with one for several weeks now and compared to others it seems to get deeper satin glow. I touch it only through brewing session, it means I wash it with cold and then boiling water after and "polish" it with silk cloth, so it´s not "smeared" with sweat or something. But I understand even washed and cleaned hands has some sweat and lipids/fat on them, which probably I in some degree rub into the surface. Is it good or bad? The pot looks better this way and it´s part of interaction between us when I´m touching it, but can taste of tea be possibly affected? What do you think and what do you do?

You'd better treat yixings with merely tea oil if possible,

no dirt, stain or finger oil..hehe
