Hi All,
I'd like to buy a teapot from the following site below.
http://www.tokoname.or.jp/teapot/yubi2011-ka/
Was anyone able to order from them? Not sure if its worth even trying.
Second question, can anyone recommend a reliable ebay vendor of japanese teapots? Have seen many yi xings, but can't find any tokoname teapots.
Thank you.
Scifi.

There are members who have purchased from this tokoname site ... not the easiest way to get one though, and you have to make sure you ask specific questions in order to avoid surprises.SciFi09 wrote:Hi All,

Why ebay? There loads of Japanese vendors selling tokoname as well as Western vendors like Rishi, Den's.

Exactly..Strainer type is one uncertainty.
Re: Tokoname teapot vendors?
I just liked the variety of styles Tokoname site had to offer. Hoped to find same variety on ebay. Can you recommend japanese vendors? Western don't have much choice. I'm looking for a larger size teapot with built-in strainer type only.Chip wrote:There are members who have purchased from this tokoname site ... not the easiest way to get one though, and you have to make sure you ask specific questions in order to avoid surprises.SciFi09 wrote:Hi All,

Re: Tokoname teapot vendors?
While I haven't ordered a teapot from tokoname.or.jp, I have had other recent dealings with them that I will discuss at a later date. My experience with this company has been extremely positive and they have been accommodating and forthcoming with their information. They are very quick to respond to emails and shipping has been fast.

I recommend artisticnippon for japanese teawares. I've been long time customer of Toru-san and always satisfied with every aspects of the purchase.
Re: Tokoname teapot vendors?
I see some teapots that are sold on artisticnippon are in the 2011 catalog from tokoname site. What does this mean?Re: Tokoname teapot vendors?

It means AN's inventory is sold out. He may restock or you can ask him to order you one.
Re: Tokoname teapot vendors?
tokoname factories make 1000's of tea pots, and teaware merchants will buy wholesale from tokoname to sell in their shops.SciFi09 wrote:I see some teapots that are sold on artisticnippon are in the 2011 catalog from tokoname site. What does this mean?
the quality handmade teawares from tokoname potters are also bought by teaware merchants for retail. that is why you see the same tea pot model sold on different web sites.
i feel the tokoname website is mostly directed to japanese buyers, or at least more difficult to navigate for non-japanese speaking, so it is easier to buy from AN or other on-line merchants.
Re: Tokoname teapot vendors?
I ordered my first kyusu from tokoname teapots about 4 years ago. Like Chicago said, quick replies to my emails, fast shipping, flawless transaction.
