The soup seems awful red for a sheng...is that a result of the bamboo roasting?

Are you looking at the sheng? I mistakenly looked at the shou version and thought the same thing. The sheng colour is ok I think.

The pictures appear to be the same for both.

I see what you mean. However if you click on the image of the sheng dry tea it will bring up a few more images - the bottom image shows the sheng soup which is a light yellow color. It looks like Guang posted the wrong photo at the bottom of the description.

Oh yeah...now I see. Looks good. I've always wanted to try a bamboo stored puerh. Not sure my wallet can handle a big chunk of that right now, unfortunately.

Anyone care to share their review of this tea? Love the nod to traditional techniques in the preparation.

I was out this last week, so I asked them to delay my shipment... I should be getting it some time in the next few days.
Anybody else? (:

Wow, it came today! I ended up with a rather large beating stick of BuLang...!
I also purchased a sample so that I could enjoy it right away, and when I opened it up, it had the most wonderful sweet, floral aroma with a hint of a cereal quality to it. Wow. I couldn't resist. I knew if I brewed it, I would probably be up all night.........
The tea is just what I would hope from a Bu Lang. It's really quite wonderful. It's got an amazing bitterness to it, and a floral quality that verges on citrus. Whew.

Drax, it sounds delightful! I hope you will enjoy it. Please do share more when you can.
Per the other thread active now on bamboo puerh, is anyone going to freeze their XZH Bulang bat to annhilate potential bamboo beetle larvae?

My thoughts after a couple of sessions from a sample: This tea reminds me of a green tea. It is light, sweet and has a very light smoky note. It has absolutely no bitterness (at least to me) at all. It is not very complex. Durability is ok.
This reminds me more of a green tea than a typical puerh. While I have only had a few bulangs, this is very different from any bulang I've had previously.
It is certainly a decent drink-it-now, everyday tea but I don't think this would be a reasonable candidate for aging.

I *LOVE* this tea.
Agreed that its not like most puerh. Agreed that its not a great candidate to age.
However, I can't get enough of the sweet, floral, elegant green flavors this tea provides.
Now I know why they provide it in such large weapons-grade quantities! Once you've tried it, you must have MOAR!!!
