Re: smallest sized japanese pot
I purchased a sweet little hobin (had to edit, Drax!
) off ebay, Bizen-Yaki. Holds 1.5 ounces (45 ml), less with leaves. It is ... precocious! Next smallest, a Deishi Hobin (and edited again) that holds a little over 2 ounces, and less with leaves.
As I posted in another topic just a little while ago, I want to pick up a small kyusu of Japanese origin, but I do have a few non Japanese kyusu that hold as little as 90 ml (without leaves).
The Tokoname site has a bunch of really nice ones, they are not cheap. Hojo has a few too ... and they cost even more.

You are wise to stay on guard, Chip, for I always lurk in the shadows, waiting to leap out and shake my finger sternly at those who would deviate from the way.Chip wrote:I purchased a sweet little hobin (had to edit, Drax!) off ebay, Bizen-Yaki. Back on topic, everybody has me beat... the smallest I've seen (or have) is the shiboridashi I got from Petr Novak, which is 3 oz...
Re: Smallest sized japanese pot
I have a Houbin that holds roughly 80-90 ml when empty. I have not seen much smaller, and for Japanese teas I am not sure I would really ever want/ need anything smaller than that.

I so want a bunch of those little kyusus from Dens, because they're cute. So far, have managed to avoid buying them simply for cuteness, because I really don't NEED one, let alone a bunch of them, but next order, I may be seized by a fit of weakness.....
