Yin Zhen Cake and Lan Ting Chun

by Splinters » Oct 24th 12 9:44 pm

Hi all,

A few years ago, I purchased a “Yin Zhen” cake from TeaSpring, which TeaSpring says is from “Lan Ting Chun, a relatively small tea factory from Yong De County that has been around since 1972.” The tea can be found at: http://www.teaspring.com/Yin-Zhen-Tea-Cake.asp

I know little about this cake, and was wondering if any of our resident experts could offer any thoughts about it and/or the Lan Ting Chun factory, including if my cake (stamped in the folds “2006” but perhaps newer?) might be worth cracking open now or holding.

Your thoughts are very appreciated!

Boss of Lantingchun TF start tea business in 80' s as maocha seller, Lantingchun TF start business in early 90's, for details you can see this blog http://www.puerh.fr/en/article/lan_ting_chun.htm . I think first regular products are from 1999.

I would crack it now and start drinking. I don't think cakes like this age gracefully at all. They turn into something like red tea in mid-age. I just wrote a post about the topic, hopefully it can give some insight.
