Thursday 3/14 And the count is?
Welcome everyone to a new TeaDay!
It has been a while since I have asked ... So, how many teas do you currently have on hand??? Take a quick count. This is going to be interesting, and I am hoping for an enlightening discussion. Please share your TeaNumbers with everyone, if you dare!!!
Have a great TeaDay everyone.

Hmmm this was a tough one.. Decided not to count the abundance of samples I have, which only makes about 11!
But as for how many I regularly drink? well thats only 4 at the moment
I'm very low on my supply of pu and oolongs..

According to my cupboard tally on Steepster, I'm somewhere between 70 and 100 teas--but that is including a lot of little samples, and I don't have a good way to keep track of which samples I might still have left and which are long gone, because different teas are stashed at three sites where I prepare and drink tea.
I working on limiting the number of more perishable teas that are open at any one time, the greens, whites, and green oolongs, and not worrying too much about puerhs and roasted oolongs that build up here and there. But even orders limited to times when I run out of something specific lead to a few extra samples being tossed into the mix....

I ran out of both discretionary income and tea recently... still waiting on that paycheck from my new job. So currently only a bing of shengpu and a couple pounds of mate.

Oh man. 43...
Black: 5
Green: 6
Matcha: 1
White: 1
Oolong: 8
Sheng: 11
Shu: 6
Herbal/Misc: 5
Though 10 are just samples (25g or less), another 10ish are almost finished (well under 25g), and aside from chamomile I don't drink the miscellaneous fruity monstrosities I keep for guests who like that sort of thing.

I don't feel so bad now. I am only in the 1 - 5 category, but I have more tea than I can drink in a year. Thankfully most it is black tea so it will last. The interesting thing is that once your friends know you are a tea fan, people buy you a lot of tea
.

Re: Thursday 3/14 And the count is?
Only 2 on hand. Any other time of year this would be considered "danger low", but this turns out to be roughly the exact amount I was planning. My goal this year is to be completely out of tea for Shincha 2013!! That way, my tea budget has a couple extra teabucks to spend

Re: Thursday 3/14 And the count is?
I've got 11, about to be 10 as the sencha is almost gone. the rest is mostly oolongs of various types.
Re: Thursday 3/14 And the count is?
Well over 50 different teas here. 80% of them are samples though. Most of them open.

Puerh- 16
Chinese and Taiwanese - 22
Korean- 8
Japanese - 11 ( 12 if you count the one I put the remainders of into my pot)
mmmm Yeah.... I really wish I didn't count.
But to be fair about 12 of my total are samples and or 25 grams or less. I have another 3 puerh "samples" which the vendors were generous and gave much more than 25 grams.
So total count: 47 with about 1/3rd of them in "small amounts"

I've got over 20 at the moment. I really need to polish off a couple of Japanese greens before they lose their fresh flavor.

I started counting and gave up quickly when I realized I am firmly in the 100+ tea camp, probably even without considering small samples

Dude, 2013 shincha is still a couple months away... that qualifies as "danger low" to me.Running for Tea wrote:Only 2 on hand.
