Favorites from '13-'17

Hi all...haven't been on in a long time. Obsessed about tea a bit too intensely for a couple years, burned out, and am now slowly re-engaging. Have mostly been drinking through my pu'er stash in the intervening years.

I'd like to add some more years worth of cakes to my collection, so that I can always have a gradient of tea ages to choose from, but I feel out of step with what's currently available. I was really digging the Essence of Tea releases from '10-'12 and it looks like there is still plenty on offer from them, as well as Yunnan Sourcing, who I have a couple cakes from. I'm primarily interested in teas that are known to have a low chemical load and are maybe a bit less expensive than most EoT offerings. Perhaps there are new endeavors since '12?

Can anyone offer their favorite cakes from '13 through '17?

Yunnan Sourcing 2013 Qing Mei Shan, 2014 Crimson Lotus Bulang,, White2tea Tea Don't Lie, many more those are just a few. I saw a bunch of your post on another site. Feel like I know you already. I have a similar user name there as well.

And what is the major secondary market these days for many of the teas that have disappeared from original vendors?

I’m really big on the Da Qing Gu Shu cakes by Yunnan Sourcing. In particular the 2015 Spring and the 2016 fall. Farmer.leaf is another great vendor with mostly young puerh, focusing on the Jingmai region. Excellent quality and not too hard on the wallet.

And what is the major secondary market these days for many of the teas that have disappeared from original vendors?

There is a site called King Tea that is carrying most of the older factory stuff. It has all been legit product and no issues on shipping or anything.

Tea Urchin —-> Gao Shan Zhai 2014 a winner. Man Zhuan 2012 very good.

EoT sells excellent puerh as you well know. Pricey for a reason. Bao Tang 2012.

There are other cakes obviously from both vendors but I wish I had that much cash to burn.

The Global Tea Hut sell non-commercial puerh cakes. Their young puerhs are nothing like I tasted before. Not bitter at all. Excellent stuff!

I am keen to give some YS raw pu cakes a spin. So how does this one compare to the 2014 Autumn Bing Dao (excellent cake from the same vendor) or the 2013 San Ke Shou.

Btw, mrmopu/mopar I read your "steepster" review about this last cake. I think you are the same user, correct me if I'm wrong.

I never had Bingdao Cakes.
But i bought the 2017

Autumn Mushu Cha
Spring QMS
Spring San he Zhai

I sampled a couple of other jinggu and Lincang Area Teas. But the 3 above are what i look for in a Tea.

But i will keep them for Storage. 2~3 years should do. Aroma of such fresh pressed Teas is way to subdued.

Alas I have been caught! The Qiu Yun was another nice one. I didn't do a note on it. I actually bought that one off another reviewers notes.

I'm also trying to locate Douji ripe material but can't find any online at all. There was a vendor from which I purchased in the past, China Cha Dao, but they are gone. Probably not selling to the West anymore.

Any others for Douji ripe stuff?
