need your help to identify artist and clay type
Hi everyone, I am exploring into other types of zisha clay aside from Zini category. I wonder if anyone could help me identify those artists and your opinion on the clay type. The one that I believe it's duan ni has a certificate of 工艺美术师, and the other one doesn't come with one. I understand that having a certificate doesn't mean anything. I just wanted to mention it to narrow down the list of artists. Thank you : )
Re: need your help to identify artist and clay type
Here are a few more photos on the duan ni teapot
Re: need your help to identify artist and clay type
Looks like modern zhu ni and modern duan ni to me. No idea on the artists.
Re: need your help to identify artist and clay type
there are MANY teapot artists. unless you have reason to believe he/she is famous, i think finding info on your artist is a lost cause

The second is 魏援良, the material seems not duan ni, more like dou qing ni.
they both have no title. especially the second author, title of 工艺美术师 is self sealed, I hope you didn't spend the same money as 工艺美术师's works.
but the workmanship seems good.

Thank you Carmeloneo for translating the names, and everyone for the feedbacks. I wouldn't have any idea of the price of a pot from 工艺美术师 with my limited experience. Most of my zisha pots that I brew tea are from reputable online sellers that cost about 100-250 usd range. Those two pots are also within that range. What attracted me to those two pots are the craftsmanship and artistic design. I am also interested to learn more about zisha, I wonder if you can tell me more about dou qing ni?carmeloneo wrote:The first author is 秦穗丰DailyTX wrote: Hi everyone, I am exploring into other types of zisha clay aside from Zini category. Ben Shan Lu Ni?
The result of a particular clay mix with duanni being the main culprit.
Modern pots are just like that: a bag of mixed clays, generally speaking. There are of course exceptions to this.

Isn't it? dou qing ni is firstly created in F1, also named Wen ge lv, master Xu Hantang , Lv yaochen, Cao Wanfen all had works of this material. I agree that modern teapots are a bag of mixed clays, so there may be misinformation.bagua7 wrote: Ben Shan Lu Ni?The result of a particular clay mix with duanni being the main culprit.
