Questions about Celadon Chawan

by Stanleygagner » Aug 18th 23 6:46 pm

Hello everyone! This Celadon bowl has been in my collection for about 6 months. It is about 6 inches wide and 2.5 inches tall.

It was purchased from an antique collector in my area who had himself purchased it from a local collector of Japanese tea ceremony ware. Unfortunately, I believe this first collector is deceased, so I don't know much about this item's provenance. Do any of you guys have some idea of the age or country of origin of this bowl based on the attached images? I suspect it was in Japan before it came to the US, but it could be originally from China or Korea. The thin line of black lacquer around the rim also makes me think it must be somewhat old because of the way it has been worn off in places.

Appreciate any leads! Thanks!
