I only have sailing vids on on mine, maybe I'll have to do some pourings as well one of these days.
Agree on the preheat, what about a wash? Water from both of those steps can warm your other teaware too, it makes a difference.
Often I'll just upend/set the pot on the top of the pitcher and let it sit there on it's own for a bit while draining. Saves your fingers from getting burned among other things.
I have the yellow clay version of that YiXing, it's actually my favorite green oolong pot.
