rishi Ancient Moonlight White tea

I would love to get an honest opinion on this tea...I am contemplating ordering but before I spend an arm and a leg - I want to know what is this tea?

from the pictures it looks like there is a silver leaf and 2 buds...but I though that the silver needles alone would be more expensive than this....can someone clarify?

It is essentially a bai mu dan/white peony tea from Yunnan opposed to Fujian. I was fond of it because it was one of the very few Fair Trade Certified Chinese white teas available. It is quite good.

I feel those two are hard to compare, but in over-all quality, I'd say yeah, but I'm more comfortable in saying it is quite comparable to their Fujian White Peony.

I happen to like any Silver Needle more than any White Peony...but that's my taste. Others like Peonies more than Needles. If you're new to whites, why not buy a couple different samples of each from different vendors?

thanks mary - but I think you got the price wrong...they have it listed as 170$ per pound and 1oz for 22 $...are we talking about the right tea?

Yeah, we are. I wrote the review back in August. Rishi's upped their price since then.

They increased their price from 76 to 170 $.....now that's just crazy!

Those teas come from one of the few Fair Trade projects in China, and the word from them is that demand has forced them to increase their prices. Even so, my jaw dropped when I saw that, too.

That's why I stopped buying it. I wanna support Fair Trade, but with that kind of price increase, who's to say that Rishi isn't the one getting the benefits.

Much cheaper off of amazon. This is where I got the Moonlight White I'm drinking right at this moment. Good stuff. It's a slightly more fruity peony for me.

I really liked this tea. It is definately much more of white peony than a silver needle. I'm a sucker for honeysuckle so it was right up my ally.

I drink this when I'm having a bad day! loll I really love this tea, it's very expensive... BUT! Wegmans is great, they have a fresh supply of this near me, and I can buy small amounts by gram (just make sure you don't charge your self for the bag). Very nice tea, very nice flavor if made correctly. I treat this stuff like my baby! This is personally my favorite white tea, but I am new to this. I've tried silver needles, and I like this one better, could be poor brewing though. If you live by a Wegmans, go buy 10 grams, see how you like it. Unfortunately you're only offered Rishi tea to sample like this (not a bad company though.) Also, you support a good cause in return for your money.... think of it as charity so you don't get upset about the price!

I usually use around 3.6 grams per 8 oz. (yeah i think it's 3.8 i'm tired) The honey suckle flavor is a great attribute, this tea reminds me of laying in a field by my house when I was younger. I think this is why my connection to this tea is so strong! I know when I sip a great tea when it gives me great energy.

When you lay this tea out afterwards, look at the leaves and patterns, they're very nice and are taken care of. Hope this 345 am post helps you!

I just recently blended my left overs with my dragon jasmine 3:1 ratio. It was actually quite good for mixing two different types of tea... DID get rid of some flavors, but I like using 2nd hand tea to experiment frivolously. If it's not good I put it in my aunts garden .
