Looking for a peach tea

by teachat » Jun 7th 05 8:14 pm

I just got back from Kuwait for Operation Iraqi Freedom. And there was this bottled peach flavored iced tea that they had at the PX. I can't exactly remember the name but i think its "San Berniditto" its something like that. It comes in a one liter bottle and the only flavors i've seen is lemon and Peach. On the label i think it has an Italian flag on it and a picture of the sun over a grass field i think. I've been trying to find this tea forever since i've gotten back. If anyone knows what its call or where i can find it. I'd greatly appreciate it.

Brandon,

The tea you are looking for is not available in US. And it's likely to be too costly to import it from Italy. As a consolation, we would recommend considering making iced tea from Lemon or Peach teas. These are guaranteed to taste at lease as good, are easy to find, and easy to prepare. Please take a look: http://www.adagio.com/iced.html

I heard that Peach Tree Tea is good for Diabetics. It supposedly reduces blood sugar levels. I have not been able to find any info that verifies this statement. Is there a Peach Tree Leaf or Tea that is good for the reduction of blood sugars and where can I get such?

Brandon..San Benedetto Iced Peach Tea.Imported by NY-NJ-Cibo Specialty Food Service. 718 967 6858
Also this is where I buy it at a small Italian
restaurant in Groton Mass. Filho's Cucina

Brandon, I believe you can purchase this bottled tea (San Benedetto) at Old World Deli. We just had a company luncheon, and that was one of the beverages that was served. Good Luck!!!

Teavana has a nice peach oolong that you could ice.

They also have some delicious tea blends. The "to life" blend is heavenly.

This tea is available at an Italian chain restaraunt called "Bravo" There are two of them right by me in Cleveland but I'm not sure if they go across the entire U.S.

If you haven't found a convenient source yet, go to http://www.gourmet-village.net/...

It's a but pricey, at just under $3 per half liter, but those who know it, just might deceide it's worth it :) (Discovered it while travelling in Firenze)

SAN BENEDETTO

by peachtealover » Dec 22nd 05 11:40 am

I'd check for SAN BENEDETTO at a store like World Market. There's a small cafe/grocery store in Largo, MD called Reggiano's that sells both the lemon and the peach SAN BENEDETTO tea.

peach tea

I was on a trip last summer and had a lot of San Benedetto tea (it was a trip to Italy). The places others have mentioned are great to look for it, but if you can't find it or it's too hard to get, try Twinings. Also had some of that in Italy and it was great. It can be found in boxes of 20 at World Market (it takes only 7 to make 2 quarts of iced tea).
