Hey All,
Just curious if anyone would be interested in sharing their photo so we have an idea who we're talking to. Maybe make it a sticky here or on Tea Day?
I figured I'd try to do a poll and see how many are interested. I know many of you prefer the anonymity of the Internet and I respect that too.

Count me in, I used my own photo as my avatar for a long time... glad to put up another.

While it is awfully nice to be able to put a face (or real name) with someone's username, there are a lot of downsides to posting your picture in a forum. If this is something a united usership is interested in, the Mod Squad and Adagio will discuss adding a dedicated thread for the purpose. However, just be aware that such a discussion might not result in a thread formation. We do have to consider those downsides, after all.

Perhaps we could somehow put a restriction on it where you have to have been a member for so long/have so many posts or something like that before you can access it.Chip wrote:Of course participation would be voluntary.
It is possible I think to restrict access to members only.![]()
Not sure how I feel about this personally. And the forum administration would have to consider the pros and cons

But if we want to restrict access which I think is very important, another "forum" would have to be created on the home page of TeaChat. (forum examples are: Green Tea, TeaWare and Accessories, TeaDay). Mary and I have just cleaned house in this regard, giving the forum a neater and more approachable appearance. If you scale the home page to view at 50%, you can see how BIG the forum is even after this reorganization.
Not a downside per se, but the individual pictures add a new more personal dimension to the forum. Some would say it is an opening of Pandora's box. Some members have posted in the past that they already wish there was more tea focus and less personal focus. I have always felt TeaChat had excellent balance in this regard and feel this is why TeaChat is TeaChat.

blah blah blah SENCHA blah blah blah!!!
Is there a way to make a photo option in member profiles? That way, each individual could add a photo if they chose, or not, and it wouldn't clutter up the forum, and it would be something you'd have to go looking for rather than broadcasting.

Interesting idea, Sarah.
If it is possible, I would also want to restrict the viewing of profiles to members only. Just a thought. TBH, I have always felt uncomfortable at how many non members view the memberlist and individuals' profile pages. Moderators are able to see unregistered users activity. Kinda creepy knowing lurkers are reading about us. Non members viewing member pictures goes beyond creepy.
Just sayin ...
