I have drunk just about every oolong I can find, and I've found that what I really like to have on hand as a basic everyday tea are Formosa high-mountain oolongs.
I have quite a bit of the wonderful (but dark) Fo Shou from Hou De, but would also like to buy a large batch of a really nice light Formosa high-mountain tea. I have tried teas from Dayuling, Shanlinxi, Dong Ding, Alishan, Li Shan, etc. and I really like this style.
Wondering if anyone has a recommendation on a great but not-too-expensive tea in this style.
thanks in advance!

I have seen a site www.verytea.com that sells oolong from Taiwan for very reasonable price, although I haven`t tried it?

Thanks. I'm not necessarily looking for the lowest price, but more for the best bang/buck. Under $100 a pound would be nice though! :D
My favorite vendors to date for taiwanese teas have been Hou De, DTH, teahome, teasfromtaiwan, and jingteashop, though I do wonder about the wisdom of ordering Formosa teas from PROC!
thanks in advance for any strong recommendations...

Unfortunately this year's has been pretty lousy because it was too rainy last spring, so I'm at a loss on what to tell you right at the moment (and I suspect others might too, with possible exception to some that may be getting the Winter harvest in). I'm getting some light to mid roast gaoshan from a new vendor in the next couple of days, however. This vendor is quite inexpensive, but has the potential to be good. I'll try to remember this thread once I've gotten them and let you know. Feel free to bug me on Monday if I haven't

I like DragonTeaHouses teas. I have not bought many Taiwan teas, I am still learning my way through Min Bei, Min Nan and Guangdong
But when I move on to Taiwan I will definitely be trying
both Dragon and another Taiwan based ebay seller
Zen8Tea - I have bought several lots of Teaware from them, highly impressed with the free tea samples they sent.
They look pretty favourably priced

Yeah! I remember you ordered some tea ware from them. Let us see it when you have time! Their price looks pretty good!ABx wrote: Hehe, that's the vendor I was talking about in my last postI'm getting a few things hopefully tomorrow or Saturday (maybe Monday). The tea price is pretty good! How is their tea of the price range below $15 per 150gram?Herb_Master wrote: Zen8Tea - I have bought several lots of Teaware from them, highly impressed with the free tea samples they sent.

Glad to see you are enjoying Taiwan oolongs!
Seeing as I live in Taiwan, I can probably find you some reasonably priced stuff. One of my Tea Masters, Aliang, as a good selection at his shop from the different mountains you've mentioned, although each area's 'style' is a bit different.
If you like, contact me through my blog (www.taiwanteaguy.com) and we can discuss more detail about what you want, and I'll arrange to send you some samples.

I just realized today, though, that it's being sent by SAL rather than Air. So it will hopefully be here in the second half of next week

Are you looking for high fire, medium fire, or low fire?PolyhymnianMuse wrote: I've been looking for a decent rock oolong in the same category, around $100 or a so a pound...
I got a sample of Jie Lan Shui Xian (奇蘭水仙) along with my order from Aroma / Lam Kie Yuen (Vancouver), and thought it was pretty nice from the one time I brewed it. It's something like $18 CAD for 100g. Not a super long lasting aftertaste, but the tea tastes pretty nice - it's a little floral, fairly oxidized, and a bit roasted, but without any charcoal taste.
