Decaf Tea = Don't drink the first infusion?

by shardy53 » Jan 13th, '09, 13:35

I saw a video that made sense to me today. It was a guy in a tea shop that said that if you want good Decaf tea , then just do a fast first infusion and throw it away. That makes more sense to me than buying decaf tea that is tasteless anyway. What do you people think about that.

That should work fine for some higher quality teas, though in my experience flavored teas (should that be your thing) are rarely even remotely as nice after the first infusion.

Tea myth 427. It takes much longer than 3-5 minutes to "decaff a tea." Yes, this will recuce the caffeine, but not decaff it.
blah blah blah SENCHA blah blah blah!!!
