Unusual green teas

by Pentox » Jan 18th, '09, 01:50

Ok, so I was just flipping through Teance's site and noticed they are offering genmai gyokuro karigane. Is it just me or is that getting a bit too complicated. I'm half waiting to see the genmai gyokuro karigane hojicha w/ matcha.

Your wish is my command. This hojicha karigane is MADE out of matcha. Just add rice.

If I ever craved it, I would blend it myself. Seems like overkill ... or more like oversell? I can guarantee you, it is crappy gyo/karigane in the blend.

But I have been doing some weird blending with Japanese greens and homemade mugi and/or genmai.

Heh, I have no particular desire to try it, especially since it's from Teance. Not exactly the place I would go for a Japanese green tea.

I'm just wondering how many more permutations of the existing Japanese green tea types they're going to come up with.

Here is a start, but just be willing to experiment.

Mugi/genmai
