Notice of EDIT 1/31/09 6:58 PM EST. OK, the one daily entry limit is hereby lifted for the final 30ish hours of the contest.

Each participant may post up to a grand total of 3 gaiwan.

Also, regarding number of photos per entry. I will be posting new topics with just the entries, 2 photos each, max. If there are more than 2 photos, I will pick 2 at my discretion. I would rather not do this. So, if you have mre than 2 photos for any entry, you can edit them out up to 11:59 PM EST Sunday 2/01/09. At that time, I will lock the topic and no more participant editing can take place.

The Chinese New Year is January 26th! So, let's celebrate and have a TeaChat Gaiwan Contest and offer up some nice prizes compliments of the forum host, Adagio.
Maybe we can use this contest to coax the powers that be to begin offering gaiwans!

I hope many members of TeaChat will join in the fun of friendly competition, come on, please don't be shy. :D We want to see your Gaiwans!

Prizes supplied by Adagio include:
Grand Prize - $25 gift certificate
Runner up - $15 gift certificate
3rd Place - $10 gift certificate
There will also be several $5 gift certificates as well, including possibly most unusual gaiwan.

1. The rules are simple, anyone who has been a member of TeaChat as of December 26, 2008 with at least 10 posts is eligible.
2. Participants may submit up to 3 different gaiwan that they own. Please submit via post your original photo of your gaiwan empty, and a photo of it "in use" (for instance with infused leaves). Please size your photos no larger than 600 X 480 pixels. Larger photos will be removed, and the participant will have to resubmit photos.
3. Accompanying text is not required, but must be less than 50 words.
4. One entry per day per participant!!! One entry per post, please! Remember, no more than 3 gaiwan submissions per participant.
5. Submit your entries by Sunday, February 1st, 2009 at 11:59 PM.
6. Members will select the winners via official Polls. First poll will select finalists. Participants may have no more than one finalist.

We cannot wait to see your gaiwans! So, get brewing and shooting ...

I own one gaiwan and it is plain white. Maybe there will be a conciliation category for plain white gaiwan.

Thank you, Brandon. Nothing "plain" about white. Interesting idea about conciliatory white category of the contest. If we receive a bunch of white submissions, I will do it. So, by all means everyone, submit whites.

Do you have a photo of it "in use" to share as well?

I think plain white often shows off the form of the gaiwan better, and this one has a very beautiful shape.

I got a nice pair of gaiwans to post after I get back home. (At a friends house after the LA Trip). Its a pair of Dragon Gaiwans where there is a blue sea dragon pattern and the other is a red air dragon pattern.

This gaiwan is from Pure Puer Tea. According to their description, is entirely hand-crafted
and hand-painted by the An Da Studio of Taiwan. And each one is unique.
