Do you like teapot or brewcup to make tea more?

Its not a big deal what to brew tea in. A friend of mine says - "if you wish to you can brew tea in the pool"))). This is probably why i prefer gaiwan. Some say teapots are beter for pu - erh but i still use gaiwan and feel quete happy with it.

Yeh, almost forgot: gaiwan is cheaper and unlike clay fake porcelain wont damage your health or spoil your tea.

i love the gaiwan simply because it is small. I began tea with a large teapot from bodum but i love the personal gaiwan brewing.

Since i currently live in a dorm, i have a space issue. it's really inconvenient to have multiple pots and so i brewcup-it, it's easier to transport and store as well as to clean. which is important when you only have a regular bathroom sink :<

last year i didn't bother to sufficiently clean out the spent tea leaves in my teapot before washing it in the sink. The leaves got caught in the sink causing it to clog and me having to get the very kind maintenance staff. While they were kind enough to get rid of the clog, they were rather worried about what i had tried to put down the sink. after convincing them that it was NOT drugs but instead tea, they had a good laugh.

I also would have voted 'both' if the option were available. For me the choice between the two depends on the tea I'm brewing and my mood.

I love Yixing pots, both as brewing devices and as objects in themselves, but forced to choose, I voted for "brewcup" because I think a gaiwan is more versatile. I also appreciate a gaiwan's humble, direct connection with the tea brewing, without the layer of acquisitiveness and obsession with equipment that Yixing sometimes inspires (at least personally - perhaps there are gaiwan collectors out there who feel differently).

I use a teapot or an Ingenuitea because I like black tea, and I usually brew four cups at a time that I keep warm in my thermos.

That being said, I do have a sample set of green tea from adagio that I plan on brewing at night in a gaiwan. I am in the market now for a plain white gaiwan.

I voted for the Gaiwan for one simple reason: versatility.

Down the line, I'm sure I'll have some Oolong-specific teapots (hopefully sooner rather than later), but for the time being, a Gaiwan will fit the bill.

I will wash the teapot till all the leaves fill the filter then I fling all the leaves at unsuspecting roommates

Varies, but I'm most likely to brew chinese green teas in a gaiwan. I'm a little more of a purist with sencha, using my tokoname, and always, always puerh in a yixing. But when it comes to the tweenies like oolongs or even chinese blacks, it varies according to my mood, how much time and concentration I want to spend on my tea, what is at hand and whether I am sharing.

Two months ago I would definitily have said gaiwan, but now I have some small teapots that I love and I hardly use my gaiwan. I'm sure it's a mood thing though. Gaiwan is simply the best for some teas.

I like your style! Chalk me up as another dorm-bound yixing user; I think it's worth it, even with all the trips to the sink. I shake out my pots over the trash and the leaves that remain usually aren't too much of a problem for the drain. Usually.

There was that one time with an IngenuiTea full of genmaicha... the whole floor smelled like rice for a week.

I couldn't vote on this either. Each has their own unique properties that can produce different results. So whether I use a gaiwan or a teapot of some sort depends on many factors.

I love my gaiwan, it is quick and fun to use. It gives me a more hands on feel to making tea. That and it is easier to see green and white teas.
