by Chip » Jun 13th, '09, 01:52

Greetings TeaChatters and welcome to a TeaRoom TeaDay. Please come in and share what is in your cup today.

Yesterday responders picked their own TeaTitle. You can still vote and discuss yesterday's topic.

Today's TeaRoom poll and discussion topic. Off the beaten path a bit for a nice change and get to know each other along the way. Your favorite meal, would you prefer it home-cooked or would you prefer it dining out? Of course, share your fave meal and your preference.

I am as always looking forward to sharing TeaDay with everyone. Bottoms up.

Get a group organised, and head for the hills.

Dig a pit barbeque, lots of herbs, cuts of meat, fire and bury.

A nice day walking in the peaks and mountain streams.

Back for the feast, brewing tea with mountain brook water.

Dining alfresco to the setting sun.

A nice malt whisky to watch the stars sparkling.

Down to the farm in the valley morning after for milk straight from the cow, and freshly laid eggs.
Best wishes from Cheshire

Although I do enjoy dining out, I think I enjoy cooking at home even better. Cooking with people is even more fun! And cooking new stuff is the best of all!

This morning I'm giving an odd cup of tea one last go to see if I can actually taste it. Hmmmmm!

Given a choice, I tend to lean toward eating in, the quality of the food is often better and the setting more peaceful than a restaurant.

I finally finished off my sample of the mystery tuo that Eanglin (aka Jade Cicada) shared with several of us at the Puerh Live Journal forum last August -- dry leaves here

I'd rather eat in every time. Restaurant employees secretly hate vegans.

This was a toughy for me. I am a girl who LOVES to be wined and dined as much as I love to cook big family meals at home. But, the more I thought about it the more images of my big boisterous family all around a big table kept popping up. These dinners are not as relaxing or romantic as a wonderful meal out, but they are part of my roots and they feed my heart and soul :D

No tea this morning because I have to go in to the after hours clinic for some tests. :( After I get back I will dive into a cup or two I am sure :)

Maybe you have already mentioned this elsewhere, but is this the TeaSpring product and is it as good as your frequent imbibing of it suggests?

Tough call, since I love to cook as much as I love to eat. However, I love to eat out as well. I think my fave food would likely be better cooked at home with hand picked ingredients.

My fave dish, simply prepared and minimally seasoned pan seared "dry" (meaning no preservatives or moisture added) Sea Scallops. 1-2 minutes per side, then deglaze the pan with a nice wine and drizzle over the scallops ... delicious. Ceasar salad, not to fussy about side dishes so much.

Began the TD with Takumi from Zencha brewed strong. SweeTea's fur stood on end, while Pyrit and Gandalf just watched.
blah blah blah SENCHA blah blah blah!!!

Mmmm, my favorite meal, which I made for myself and my MIL on Mother's Day, is Chicken-and-Dumplings...pure Southern comfort food. I learned how to make it at my Grandma's elbow and when I make it I use her mixing bowl, so I feel like she's right there in the kitchen with me.

Mostly, I'm all about eating healthy...and there's not a lot "healthy" about what is basically a plate full of white flour boiled in chicken broth, but every once in a while it is "just the thing"!!!

I love cooking, eating in, AND eating out!!!

This morning in my cup...Assam shared with my son who had to be up early to go take his ACT test....later shared the rest of the pot with DH outside on the deck...AHHHH, life is so good.

Have an awesome day, All,
Dreamer

Tough call for me on whether I'd rather cook it myself or eat my mom's home cooking. We're both very good cooks, so there's really no wrong answer! But our cooking styles are very different. My mom is a wonderful traditional Southern cook... fried chicken, cornbread, pressure-cooked green beans with potatoes and baby yellow squash on top, seasoned with pork, turnip greens, fried green tomatoes. Wow, yummm.

I am more of an adventurer in the kitchen... making anything and everything that strikes my fancy when watching Food Network. It's fun to try new things, but when push comes to shove, I vote for the sure thing... Mom.

And yes... a man who can cook... very sexy!

Four Season 2009 High Mountain Oolong (Gao Shan) from teafromtaiwan.com has been in my cup this morning. For the price, I think it's really good. The aroma is sweet and familiar, I can't place it yet... but maybe like an oatmeal or breakfast cereal or cinnamon bun... sort of a cinnamon/brown sugar thing. The taste is smooth and subtle, not particularly complex, but really nice. It's only 11.00 for 75 grams, and a nice value for that price I think.
